Call for Officer Candidates
Pursuant to the Bylaws of Caer Adamant, the offices of Exchequer, Knight Marshal and Herald for the 2019-2020 terms are now open.
- Letters of intent must be received by the Seneschal prior to the scheduled start of the January business meeting. Letters of intent should include: member’s modern name; SCA name, if applicable; membership number and expiration date and a few lines describing the request.
- Candidates will be announced at the January business meeting as well as the Shire web site.
- Between the January and February business meetings the candidates may submit a statement detailing their qualifications, reason(s) for seeking office and goals for his or her time in office. Responses will be combined and posted to the Shire web site and shared on our FB page.
- A ballot will be posted to the Shire web page and paper ballots will be available at the February business meeting. Absentee ballots must be received by the Seneschal prior to the February business meeting and included in the tally provided all proofs required by the Bylaws are met. Anyone 14 years or older with valid membership has the right to vote.
- Officer elections will be via closed ballot during the February business meeting. The winner will be that candidate who receives a simple majority of the votes cast. Should the Populace vote to reject all of the candidates for a position, and that position is required by East Kingdom Law or Corpora, the process of holding a new election will begin immediately. In the interim, the Seneschal will make provisions for the performance of any duties of the office required.
Archery 2018!
We had a successful archery practice last week, and we’ve got one scheduled for this upcoming Sunday. I have a few others scheduled for some random Sundays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be held at Iron Hill Science Center, 1115 Robert L. Melson Lane, Newark, DE 19702. Presently we have the following dates scheduled:
Sunday, July 22
Sunday, September 2
Sunday, September 9
Sunday, September 23
I have a tentative hold on Sunday, October 7, but that will be decided later as I may be gone at an event far way that weekend.
Looking forward to seeing folks, we have some (limited but it is available) loaner gear so please come out if you’re interested.

Aug. 19-Shire Meeting
August Shire Business Meeting at Iron Hill Science Center, 1115 Robert L. Melson Lane, Newark, DE 19702. Click here for directions.
We’ll have our meeting at 10:00 then go for Chinese buffet for lunch after and that will provide opportunity for folks to get to fight practice or thrown weapons if that is on the calendar for that day.
Mar. 25-Shire Meeting
Good Morning Adamantians! The poll is in. We had 19 total responses. The weeknight that most folks could make was Thursday, with a high of 7 people at 7:00. Compare that with Sunday responses, where 10 folks said that 1:00 worked. (That is the highest “yes” time frame). We now have data to support what we were already doing.
With 73.3% of the people saying “Yes” to a Google HangOut for the meeting, and two folks saying “No” we will give it a trial run at the March meeting.
I went ahead and scheduled us for March 25th at Iron Hill Science Museum at 1:00, as there were issues with every other Sunday of the month. We don’t want to deprive Fighter Practice of it’s marshals so we will try to keep the business end of the meeting quick.
For those interested, (totally optional) I am thinking about the Red Robins for lunch before hand. Or there is the McGlynns pub… anyone been there? I am open to other options. Thoughts? Preferences?
