TABLET WEAVING
Merlin Silber will introduce us to tablet weaving, also known as card weaving, a method of producing narrow textiles, such as straps, belts, and trim, using punched cards (tablets) with holes. Many medieval pieces were ornate silk ecclesiastical vestments, or wrist and head bands brocaded with gold or silver, but others were much simpler. Tablet woven borders were also sometimes woven into larger textiles. Come, join in! We promise this class is absolutely beginner friendly!
