Welcome to the Delaware chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism,
Are you a history buff? You have come to the right place. We share and encourage your scholarly pursuits and research to recreate the arts, sciences and culture from the past: Cooking, Dance, Crafts, Clothes and more!
Have you ever dreamed of strapping on armor and shield and entering into heavy weapons combat? Wielding a rapier and fencing your way to victory? Target practice with a bow and arrow? Come live the dream!
Do you long for the days when chivalry was not dead? We do, too!
What are you even talking about?
An “anachronism” is a thing out of its proper place in time; and the SCA strives to bring the dreams and ideals of the Middle Ages into the present day by actively recreating aspects of Medieval life. Research and a desire for authenticity help to create the ambiance of Medieval times. The pageantry of costume and armor create a feeling of reality, a feeling of stepping back through time to a simpler age.
What do we do?
We hold regular activities each month, such as social gatherings, classes and workshops. A few times each year, the Shire of Caer Adamant hosts events. Most importantly, everyone is welcome to participate! Be sure to visit our Calendar to find and get information about our latest activities. We also hold a business meeting each month and all are encouraged and welcome to attend to meet and get to know us.
How can I join?
Contact our Chatelaine (newcomer contact) for additional information. Membership in the SCA is open to everyone who has an interest and desire to learn more about the lifestyle and customs of the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods. While membership is not required to attend events, if you do decide to become a member you will receive discounted admission to events and a subscription to the monthly publication of the East Kingdom, The Pikestaff.
